Sometimes the United Way site reviews are just fun. For a site review this year with the Girl Scouts of Eastern Missouri we met with the ‘Gear Galls’ competitive project and robotics team. Team members pictured are Kaibella Clay, Faedre Lehenbauer and Keri Schindler. Their competitive and award winning project is the ‘Brush N Go Cat Cube.’ Challenged to come up with a project for animals the team worked to invent a cube that would brush the cat as it walks through. The team presented the project in a similar manner as they would have competition. All team members have to participate. It works, cats enjoy it! Self brushing cats – who’d of thought. The girls also competed in the (STEM) robotics project programming a robot to complete multiple tasks. There is a short video here. They were reprogramming the robot and I was only able to video the one function – and yes it is supposed to repeat the motion 9 times. Fun for me, Good work ‘Gear Girls.’ Proud to have you representing Girl Scouting, yourselves and our community. I would not be surprised to hear more from these young ladies.
